Eighteen months after Hurricane Helene, several communities in Western North Carolina remain without a functioning local post office. That is simply unacceptable.

After Hurricane Helene, 21 post offices across Western North Carolina closed due to extensive damage. After sustained pressure on USPS, 17 of those post offices have reopened in the following towns:

Operation Epic Fury is long overdue. Since 1984, when the United States formally designated Iran a State Sponsor of Terrorism under the leadership of Ronald Reagan, the regime in Tehran has defined itself in direct opposition to the freedoms America defends. For more than four decades, that hostility, echoed in chants of ‘Death to America’, has gone far beyond rhetoric. It has been lethal. 

As Western North Carolina continues to grow, so too does the demand on our electrical grid. Expanding that infrastructure is essential, but how we expand matters just as much. During my recent Carolina Cruiser mobile office hours in Hayesville, I heard directly from residents whose homes lie within the proposed path of the Tennessee Valley Authority’s (TVA) Shooting Creek Transmission Project.
