Edwards’ mobile district office logs 13,000+ miles, 250 stops in 2023

February 6, 2024

Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) today announced that his mobile office, the “Carolina Cruiser,” has traveled more than 13,000 miles and made more than 250 stops in Western North Carolina during Edwards’ first year serving Western North Carolina in Congress.

The only mobile office in Congress, the Carolina Cruiser helps Congressman Edwards bring the federal government to the people, with the goal of being more accessible, transparent and accountable to constituents. The van allows Congressman Edwards and members of his staff to hold mobile office hours throughout Western North Carolina to assist constituents with federal agencies and hear about issues of concern to them.

After not inheriting any constituent information or casework from his predecessor, Congressman Edwards and his staff, with the help of the Carolina Cruiser, in 2023 successfully closed more than 1,700 constituent cases, fulfilled 403 passport requests, addressed more than 240 individual Social Security issues, and completed 52 military records requests for veterans.

“Since Day One, my team and I have dedicated ourselves to bringing constituents’ voices to the federal government. The best way to do that was to make sure we were accessible to constituents all over WNC. The Carolina Cruiser has made that possible,” said Edwards“Remaining ‘First in Constituent Services’ for the folks of Western North Carolina will always be a priority for me, and the success that we’ve seen with the Carolina Cruiser during my first year is only the beginning.”
