Edwards Hosts a Military Service Academy Day for Local High School Students and their Families
WAYNESVILLE, NC - U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) hosted a Military Service Academy Day at Tuscola High School in Waynesville, NC, providing high school students with an opportunity to learn more about admission to one of our nation’s five service academies.
The event connected Western North Carolina high school students and their families with representatives from the United States Air Force Academy (USAFA), the United States Naval Academy (USNA), the United States Military Academy at West Point (USMA), the United States Merchant Marine Academy (USMMA), and the United States Coast Guard Academy (USCGA).
Students also spoke with Congressman Edwards and his team about the Congressional nominations process. Congressional nominations are required for all service academies except for the U.S. Coast Guard Academy.
“One of the most important responsibilities as the representative for North Carolina’s 11th District is selecting nominees for our nation’s military service academies,” said Congressman Edwards. “The men and women who are nominated and ultimately selected to attend one of these five prestigious academies represent the very best of the leadership, service, patriotism, and dedication that our nation has to offer. I was honored to meet WNC high school students who are interested in serving our great nation.”
The deadline for NC-11 students to apply for a service academy nomination is October 17, 2025. For more information about service academy nominations, visit our website or call Congressman Edwards’s district office at 828-435-7310.
