U.S. Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) announced today that he has been appointed to the House Budget Committee’s Oversight Task Force to help bring even more fiscal accountability, transparency and integrity to the federal government.

House Budget Committee Chairman Jodey Arrington (R-TX) and Budget Committee Member Congressman Jack Bergman (R-MI) appointed Congressman Edwards to the select group.

Congressman Edwards said“There is no greater threat to America’s sovereignty than the $33 trillion dollars of debt that we’ve thrown onto our children and grandchildren. Washington’s irresponsible spending of Americans' hard-earned tax dollars is jeopardizing our nation's security. It simply has to stop.

“I’m grateful to Chairman Arrington and Congressman Bergman for appointing me to be a member of the Oversight Task Force to tackle one of our country’s most significant challenges, and I look forward to helping correct the Swamp’s math problem that I hear so much about from Western North Carolinians.”

Chairman Arrington said“Congressman Edwards’ business background and common sense have been invaluable in developing our balanced budget. Chuck understands that we must rein in Washington’s reckless spending and promote economic growth if we are to preserve the freedoms and opportunities for the next generation of Americans.”

Members of the Oversight Task Force include:

  • Congressman Jack Bergman (R-MI) [Task Force Chair]
  • Congressman Tom McClintock (R-CA)
  • Congressman Chip Roy (R-TX)
  • Congressman Ron Estes (R-KS)
  • Congresswoman Stephanie Bice (R-OK)
  • Congresswoman Lisa McClain (R-MI)
