Congressman Edwards Votes to Cut Health Care Costs for Western North Carolina Families

December 18, 2025

Washington, D.C. - Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) voted to advance the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act to reduce premiums and lower health care costs for families across Western North Carolina.

The Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act puts families first instead of propping up big insurance companies by:

  • Emphasizing choice, competition, and transparency to lower costs for patients,
  • Strengthening Cost-Sharing Reductions, which cut out-of-pocket expenses by 11 percent,
  • Expanding Choice Accounts, such as HRAs and FSAs, giving families more control over health care expenses, and
  • Allowing small businesses to join Association Health Plans, making group coverage more affordable.

“I voted for the Lower Health Care Premiums for All Americans Act because it is a commonsense approach to lowering costs and expanding options,” said Congressman Edwards. "This bill gives families more control, putting health care decisions back where they belong — with families, workers, and the small businesses that drive our communities.”
