Congressman Edwards Announces $48 Million in FEMA Disaster Relief Funding
WASHINGTON, D.C. – Congressman Chuck Edwards (NC-11) applauded an announcement from the Department of Homeland Security that additional 49 Hurricane Helene Public Assistance projects will receive $48 million in FEMA disaster relief funding.
“Since Hurricane Helene hit our mountains nearly one year ago, I’ve been committed to ensuring Western North Carolina receives every dollar we need to restore our communities. This most recent release of funds is another important step in fulfilling the promises made to the hardworking folks of WNC. Come Helene or High Water, the resilience of our mountain communities will prevail,” said Congressman Edwards.
Of the 49 projects authorized for funding, 18 are categorized as large projects valued at over $1 million. While we still have more work to do, since January approximately $2.7 billion has been designated for Hurricane Helene recovery.
